OLIVER DESIGN has carried out the Architectural Design and the execution of the “turnkey” interiors of the first electric ferry in Spain

The Cap de Barbaria Ferry  has been built in Vigo by  Armon Shipyards for BALEARIA

The Cap de Barbaria has been sailing between Ibiza and Formentera since the middle of last May 2023, one of the routes that saw the birth of the shipping company in 1998, This electric ship completely eliminates noise pollution in approaches, maneuvers and stays in ports and sails with emissions

The Cap de Barbaria ferry is 82 meters long and 15.5 meters wide, and sails up to 14 knots. It has an OPS grounding outlet, an energy storage system with 12-hour autonomy in port and an intelligent management of the ship’s power plant that optimizes its use at all times and will improve its efficiency.

In the design of the Cap de Barbaria, with capacity for 390 passengers, the outdoor spaces have been prioritized to enjoy the natural environment during the crossing between Ibiza and Formentera. The upper deck has a chill out area, equipped with sofas and hammocks and protected from the sun by tents
